What are the middle school science endorsements

Middle School Science Cross-Endorsements: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, General Science, Integrated Science


The following endorsements apply to middle school science educators:

 

  • Biology, Middle School, 4-8 (#230)
  • Chemistry, Middle School, 4-8 (#231)
  • Physics, Middle School, 4-8 (#232)
  • Earth Science, Middle School, 4-8 (#233)
  • General Science, Middle School, 4-8 (#234)
  • Integrated Science, Middle School, 4-8 (#235)

Biology, Middle School 4-8 (#230)

Effective March 1, 2020, following the update to the 2020-21 designated shortage areas, educators who hold a valid initial, provisional, or professional educator certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in middle school biology by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II test. Additional course work in the content area is no longer required.

Assessment Requirement:

 

Chemistry, Middle School 4-8 (#231)

Effective March 1, 2020, following the update to the 2020-21 designated shortage areas, educators who hold a valid initial, provisional, or professional educator certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in middle school chemistry by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II test. Additional course work in the content area is no longer required.

Physics, Middle School 4-8 (#232)

Effective March 1, 2020, following the update to the 2020-21 designated shortage areas, educators who hold a valid initial, provisional, or professional educator certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in middle school physics by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II test. Additional course work in the content area is no longer required.

Earth Science, Middle School 4-8 (#233)

Effective March 1, 2020, following the update to the 2020-21 designated shortage areas, educators who hold a valid initial, provisional, or professional educator certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in middle school earth science by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II test. Additional course work in the content area is no longer required.

General Science, Middle School (#234)

Effective March 1, 2020, following the update to the 2020-21 designated shortage areas, educators who hold a valid initial, provisional, or professional educator certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in middle school general science by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II test. Additional course work in the content area is no longer required.

Integrated Science, Middle School (#235)

Effective March 1, 2020, following the update to the 2020-21 designated shortage areas, educators who hold a valid initial, provisional, or professional educator certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in middle school integrated science by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II test. Additional course work in the content area is no longer required.
