PURA Establishes New Residential Renewable Energy Program
Connecticut’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) announced today it has established a successor residential renewable energy program that will change how solar owners are compensated for the power their systems produce and provide to the local electric grid.

PURA Releases 2020 Connecticut Public Utility Annual Cybersecurity Report
Connecticut’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) today released its annual ‘Public Utilities Critical Infrastructure Report’ reviewing 2020 cybersecurity vulnerabilities and policies of regulated electric, gas and water utilities, as well as information pertaining to cyber attacks that occurred in the previous year.
The Clean and Affordable Energy (CAE) unit leads the Authority's customer energy affordability work. More specifically, the CAE unit works to improve existing energy assistance programs for residential customers and to develop expanded assistance offerings to residents and business, including in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The CAE unit also works to address rate design and distribution system planning matters related to affordability.

As an approach to creating an equitable modern electric grid, the Authority has tasked the CAE office with creating a framework that will help address energy affordability for our customers and underserved communities, improve customer resilience, support a green economy, and move the needle towards a decarbonized future.
PURA continues to provide regulatory oversight of what is referred to as Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), which is the traditional, analog voice transmission over copper wires. This service, however, has been largely replaced as customers have migrated towards more sophisticated competitive services.
