Waiver of Examination

The Department may issue a license without the PMLexis/Part III examination provided the applicant is a currently licensed, competent podiatrist in another state or territory provided that such applicant:

 

Has graduated from a program accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) of the American Podiatric Medical Association with the D.P.M. degree;

 

Licensed as a podiatrist in good standing in state or jurisdiction whose licensing requirements are equal to or higher than those of this state.

 

Documentation Requirements

 

The following documents shall be forwarded directly to this office from the source:

 

A Federation of Podiatric Medical Boards (FPMB) disciplinary inquiry;

 

Verification of any out-of-state licenses held, current or expired, submitted directly to this office from the source.  Please contact the jurisdiction prior to making a request as some jurisdictions charge a fee for completion of the form;

 

Current licensure statutes, regulations and policies submitted directly to this office from the state or territory in which currently licensed.

 

Upon receipt of all required documentation, the application will be reviewed at the administrative level, an eligibility determination will be made and the applicant will be notified in writing as to his or her eligibility for licensure by waiver of examination.  Please allow four to six weeks for this review;

 

A completed application with photograph attached.  Applications are only accepted online.  Please select this link to apply online.  The application fee is $565.

 

Applicants who wish to expedite the licensing process may choose to meet the requirements for obtaining licensure for the first time. 

 

If it is determined that the other state's licensing requirements are not equal to those of this state and the applicant wants to pursue licensure, he or she would be required to meet the current Connecticut licensing requirements.
