New Haven Line Schedule Adjustments Due to Temporary Center Platform Closure at the Stamford Transportation Center

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the temporary closure of the Stamford Transportation Center’s center island platform located between Tracks #3 and #5 for rehabilitation and upgrades to the elevators and escalators.

 

The Stamford Transportation Center Elevator and Escalator Rehabilitation project improves service reliability and safety of the traveling public. This closure is required for the rehabilitation of platform elevator No. 2 at the Stamford Transportation Center. This closure is scheduled to begin the morning of February 13, 2023, and will be in place through May 11, 2023. Upon completion of this work, the next phase of the Stamford Transportation Center Elevator and Escalator Rehabilitation Project will require the temporary closure of the center island platform located between Tracks #2 and #4 for the rehabilitation and upgrades to the elevators and escalators. This work is scheduled to begin immediately after the contractor finishes on the track 3/5 platform and will end in mid-August.

 

The Stamford Transportation Center Elevator and Escalator Rehabilitation Project consists of upgrading critical components to five of the elevators allowing them to interface with new technology, increasing performance, improving safety, and updating aesthetics. Additionally, the project will be upgrading 17 of the escalators, replacing all the mechanical equipment improving reliability, increasing efficiency, and adding up-to-date safety features.

 

Train Service Impacts:

 

Select New Haven Line (NHL) trains will bypass Stamford station to minimize congestion and trains will be rerouted to the other tracks. Please check the train information boards for the track location for your train as it may be different. Full ADA access will be maintained at all times.

 

The following train service changes are required:

 

Westbound

  • NHL trains 1431 and 1539 will bypass Stamford Station.
  • Danbury Line trains 1811 and 1837 will not stop in Stamford. Stamford customers must transfer to train 1513 and 1437 at South Norwalk.

Eastbound

  • NHL trains 1306, 1308 and 1310 will terminate in Greenwich. Stamford customers must transfer to train 1506, 1508 and 1512.
  • NHL trains 1470 and 1548 will bypass Stamford Station.
  • Danbury Line trains 1812, 1838, 1848, and 1868 will not stop in Stamford. Danbury Line customers must transfer at South Norwalk.

Several other NHL trains will have train time adjustments up to five minutes. Passengers can find the updated schedule here and are encouraged to visit MTA.info for the latest service information.

 

While passengers are no longer required to wear masks on board trains or in stations, masks are welcome and remain an important preventive measure against COVID-19. Anyone needing or choosing to wear one is encouraged to do so.
