Starting a farm business can be overwhelming. The good news is that you don’t have to go it alone. Consider joining one of the following farmer groups in order to keep building your knowledge and access to resources.

Seek out state associations for producers of poultry, sheep, fruit, vegetables, honey, maple syrup, hemp, ornamentals, milk, timber, and more. Producer associations have very useful resources, expertise about crop-specific tools and infrastructure, and hold regular meetings, and networking events. Consider joining the following groups:

New CT Farmer Alliance (NCTFA) - a statewide network of farmers and growers. By bringing young, new, and emerging farmers together it is our intent to identify and help develop support systems to nurture a successful and diverse agricultural landscape for our state. We may have the word "New" in our name, but farmers of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to join!

The Southern New England Farmers of Color Collaborative (SNEFCC) is a nascent organization of beginning farmers of color and collaborators who want to increase the success of farmers of color in our New England states.

Northeast Organic Farming Association - a growing community of farmers, gardeners, land care professionals, and consumers that encourages a healthy relationship with the natural world. The mission of CT NOFA is to ensure the growth and viability of organic agriculture, organic food, and organic land care in CT. CT NOFA envisions a healthy, organic CT founded on ecologically, socially, and economically just principles.

CT Farm Farm Bureau Association - Connecticut Farm Bureau Association can give you a seat at the table with policymakers, other like-minded business owners, industry experts, or others in the agri-food supply chain, any of whom could present your next opportunity for growth.

CT Veteran Farmers Coalition - a new generation of farmers and food leaders, and develop viable employment and meaningful careers through the collaboration of the farming and military communities. We believe that veterans possess the unique skills and character needed to strengthen rural communities and create sustainable food systems. We believe that agriculture offers purpose, opportunity, and physical and psychological benefits.

Craft of Western Connecticut - Training of farm workers and apprentices in the craft of small scale agriculture and horticulture with emphasis on food production in western Connecticut.
