Low-cost spay, neuter, and vaccination program

The Animal Population Control Program (APCP) provides two types of vouchers:

  • Low-Income Program: Vouchers for low-cost dog and cat sterilization to qualified residents. Check back for re-opening dates in Fiscal Year 2026.
  • Municipal Pound Pet Program: Provides vaccination and sterilization benefits for any unsterilized dog or cat adopted from a municipal pound facility in CT.

APCP also provides The Feral Cat Grant Program. This program assists non-profit rescue groups with the sterilization and vaccination of feral cats.

Animal Control Unit

The Animal Control Unit keeps dogs and people safe and protected. Their services include:

  • Investigating animal cruelty reports and dog-related incidents (damage, injury, etc)
  • Dog and pet facility licensing
  • Supporting the community through public education and dog rehabilitation centers

Second Chance Animal Adoption Program 

The Second Chance Animal Adoption Program gives animals a fresh start. It provides veterinary care, socialization, and placement for animals seized in cruelty cases or transferred from municipal shelters.
