Welcome to the website of the Office of the State's Attorney for the Judicial District of Tolland.

The State's Attorney's office is responsible for the prosecution of all criminal offenses which occur in the Judicial District, which includes the communities of Andover, Bolton, Columbia, Coventry, Ellington, Hebron, Mansfield, Stafford, Somers, Tolland, Union, Vernon and Willington.

The Office of the State's Attorney for the Judicial District of Tolland office located at Rockville Superior Court prosecutes the more serious cases, mostly those crimes classified under state law as class A or class B felony offenses, from all communities in the Judicial District.

The Geographical Area office, located at the "Part B" Superior Court in Rockville, primarily prosecutes cases involving crimes classified under state law as class C, class D or class E felony offenses as well as all misdemeanor offenses and infractions, including motor vehicle offenses.

State’s Attorney Matthew C. Gedansky

State’s Attorney Matthew C. Gedansky was appointed by the Criminal Justice Commission as the Tolland State’s Attorney on September 15, 2003. State’s Attorney Gedansky currently serves as the chief law enforcement officer in the Judicial District of Tolland, which includes the communities of Andover, Bolton, Columbia, Coventry, Ellington, Hebron, Mansfield, Stafford, Somers, Tolland, Union, Vernon and Willington. The State’s Attorney oversees employees at the Judicial District courthouse in Rockville and the Geographical Area court in Rockville.

State’s Attorney Gedansky joined the Division of Criminal Justice in March 1991 as a Deputy Assistant State's Attorney responsible for the prosecution of drug cases in the Judicial Districts of Tolland and Windham. He moved to Geographical Area No. 19, Rockville, in October 1992 and was promoted to Assistant State’s Attorney in December 1993 and became a Senior Assistant State's Attorney on January 1, 2002. Attorney Gedansky was promoted to Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney for G.A. 19 on January 11, 2002.

State’s Attorney Gedansky serves on the Training and Management Committees for the Division and has been an instructor and lecturer for numerous police department training events. 

State’s Attorney Gedansky earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Connecticut and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
