It’s critical to know what links lead to and from any page you create. If you delete a page, archive it, or make changes to it, it can impact other pages that the page links out to, potentially creating 404s or broken links, redirect chains, or orphaned pages. Learn more about this in the Style Guide.

You can learn how to view all of the links that exist on a page in Sitecore. Here’s how:

  1. In the Media Library, select the folder from the Content Tree to see all items under it in the Content Area.
    • Each item will display a usage number if it’s been attached to a page.
    • If you don’t see a usage number, it means that this file is not linked to from anywhere on your site, potentially creating an “orphaned” page.

  2. Select the item.

  3. Select the Links icon from the Navigate tab in the Media Library Ribbon. A window will open with two sections:

    • Items that refer to the selected one – Areas on a website that link to the page you are currently viewing

    • Items that the selected item refer to – Items used by the selected item

For example, if you selected a page, this list shows the images, documents, or components that appear on that page.
