The mission of the Food Protection Program provided by the Department of Public Health (DPH) is to reduce the risk of food-borne disease by protecting citizens from contaminated food by improving the sanitary condition of food establishments. This is accomplished by enforcement of regulations, training and education, technical consultation, special investigations and food safety promotion.
