The requirements outlined on this page are general guidelines. Approval and/or acceptance of specific coursework will be determined once an application, fee, and official transcripts have been submitted for review.
Agriculture, PreK–12 (#040)
Course work requirement:
- A major or 30 semester hours of credit in agriculture
Effective July 1, 2024, educators who hold a valid initial, provisional, or professional educator certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in art by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II test. Additional course work in the content area is no longer required.
Assessment requirement:

Computer Science (Unique Endorsement #110)
The computer science endorsement requires course work OR a passing score on the Praxis II assessment.
Course work requirements:
- A major in computer science or at least 30 semester hours of credit related to computer science including study in each of the following areas:
- Computing systems, which may include devices; hardware and software; troubleshooting
- Networks and the internet, which may include cyber security, network communication, and organization
- Data and analysis, which may include storage, collection, visualization, transformation, inference, and models
- Algorithms and programming, which may include algorithms, variables, control, modularity/decomposing, program developmentImpacts of computing, which may include culture or history and social interactions
Note: At least 12 semester hours of credit must be specific to computer science.
Assessment requirement:
- Passing score on Praxis II – Computer Science (#5652)
Course work requirement:
- A major in dance or 30 semester hours of credit in dance
Effective July 1, 2024, educators who hold a valid initial, provisional, or professional educator certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in health by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II test. Additional course work in the content area is no longer required.

Home Economics, PreK–12 (#045)
Effective July 1, 2024, educators who hold a valid initial, provisional, or professional educator certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in home economics by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II test. Additional course work in the content area is no longer required.

Effective July 1, 2024, educators who hold a valid initial, provisional, or professional educator certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in music by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II test. Additional course work in the content area is no longer required.

Physical Education, PreK–12 (#044)
Effective July 1, 2024, educators who hold a valid initial, provisional, or professional educator certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in physical education by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II test. Additional course work in the content area is no longer required.

School Library Media Specialist (#062)
Coursework requirement:
- 30 semester hours of graduate credit in school library media
Up to 21 graduate credits may be accepted in educational technology or library science. However, at least nine graduate credits must be specific to school-based coursework in areas such as: teaching students, staff, and faculty to utilize media and its accompanying technology by applying valid instructional methods and techniques; application of principles of administration and supervision for effective leadership and operation of the school library media center program; and formulation of the educational specifications and contribution to the design of school library media facilities.
TESOL, PreK–12 (#111)
Course work requirement:
- 30 semester hours of credit in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) including course work in each of the following:
- English syntax and English composition
- Language theory
- Culture and intergroup relations
- Linguistics and academic assessment of limited-English-proficient students
- Curriculum and methods of teaching English as a second language

Technology Education, PreK–12 (#047)
Effective July 1, 2018, educators who hold a valid initial, provisional, or professional educator certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in a designated shortage area by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II or ACTFL test(s). Additional course work in the content area is no longer required.

Theatre and/or Drama, PreK–12 (#485)
Course work requirement:
- A major in theatre and/or drama or 30 semester hours of credit in theatre and/or drama
Please note: Coursework for all endorsements must result in the award of college-level credit posted to an official transcript from an accredited college or university.
