Gov. Malloy: Better Coordination Will Improve Services for Young Children
At a scholarship breakfast with members of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority in Hartford, Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced his plan to reintroduce a bill this session that will formally establish the Office of Early Childhood (OEC). The new agency will provide a comprehensive, collaborative system for delivering improved programs and services to children from birth to age five years old and their parents.

Gov. Malloy: Severe Cold Weather to Impact the State
With bitter cold temperatures expected to impact the state over the next week, Governor Dannel P. Malloy has activated the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol, directing the Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS), the Department of Social Services (DSS), the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), and the Department of Housing (DOH) to coordinate with 2-1-1 and Connecticut’s network of shelters to ensure that the state’s most vulnerable people are protected from the severe cold weather.

Gov. Malloy: State Veterans' ID Makes Accessing Benefits and Services More Convenient

Malloy today joined military veterans, local business leaders and state officials to promote the Connecticut Veterans’ ID program, a joint initiative between the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) that gives veterans an option to place an American flag symbol on a state-issued license or identity card to designate his or her veteran’s status.

Gov. Malloy: Agreement Will Invest in Our Children and Those Who Care for Them
Joined by home-based child care providers and union officials, Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced an agreement between the State of Connecticut and CSEA/SEIU LOCAL 2001 providing for professional development and the first general wage increases in 12 years for family child care providers under Connecticut Care 4 Kids program, the state’s program to provide better opportunities for quality child care and subsidize child care costs for low income families.

Gov. Malloy: Investment Will Create Jobs for Connecticut Residents
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) will provide a loan to Oxford Performance Materials (OPM) Inc. for an expansion project at the company’s South Windsor facility. The funding will create or retain 65 jobs for Connecticut residents over the next two years.
