The Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) is a voluntary, expedited pathway to licensure for physicians who wish to practice in multiple states. For information on the IMLC, FAQs, informational videos, and how to qualify for licensing through this pathway, please visit IMLC's website.
The Connecticut Department of Public Health is a participating member of the IMLC and issues licenses through this pathway.
Effective March 15, 2026, DPH will issue Letters of Qualification (LOQ) to Connecticut licensed physicians who meet IMLC standards to allow for expedited licensing in IMLC participating states. Please visit IMLC website for information on applying for a CT LOQ. Please note that one of the requirements to obtain an LOQ is a federal and state criminal background check. Upon receipt of an application for LOQ from IMLC, DPH will send the applicant an email with information on how to pre-register for a criminal background check.
