Doula Certification Requirements
Each person seeking certification to practice as a certified doula shall apply to the Department of Public Health and include the following:
Two reference letters from families or professionals with direct knowledge of the applicant's experience as a doula verifying the applicant's training or experience;
Documentation of the applicant's completion of an approved doula training program or a combination of such programs
OR
A notarized attestation by the applicant that the applicant has provided doula services to at least three families and training in not less than four core competencies identified by the Doula Training Program Review Committee during the five years preceding the date of the application. Applications are submitted online. Please select this link to apply online. After you have registered for an account and have verified your email address, please select "initial Application' link toward the bottom left corner of the screen, expand the 'Public Health Practitioners' grouping and then 'start' next to the Doula certification type.
Note that you will be prompted to upload a photo of yourself as well as the documents indicated above. Please make sure you have this documentation saved to the device you are using to file the application. The application fee is $100 and is paid when you submit your application.
