Applicants who are not currently certified by the Academy of Dietetics and Nutrition may qualify for certification provided the applicant has:
Successfully passed either the Registration Examination for Dietitians administered by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; or the examination administered by the Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists; and
A master's or doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with a major course of study which focused primarily on human nutrition or dietetics and which included a minimum of 30 graduate semester credits, 21 of which shall be in not fewer than 5 of the following content areas:

Human nutrition or nutrition in the life cycle;

Health education or nutrition counseling;

Nutrition biochemistry;

Nutrition assessment;

Nutrition in health and disease;
-
Community nutrition or public health nutrition; and

Food composition or food science
Official verification, sent directly from each state licensing authority where a license, certificate or registration is or has ever been held (please contact the jurisdiction prior to submitting your request as a fee may be required);
A completed Verification of Course of Study Form verifying type of degree earned and coursework completed (If the applicant attended more than one institution, a form should be completed by each school attended);
Verification of successful completion of the registration examination for dietitians administered by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or the examination administered by the Board for Certification for Nutrition Specialists (BCNS);
