Am I eligible for WIC?
You must meet one of the following criteria to receive WIC benefits:
- Pregnant women, through pregnancy and up to 6 weeks after birth or after pregnancy ends
- Breastfeeding women, up to the infant’s 1st birthday
- Non-breastfeeding postpartum women, up to 6 months after the birth of an infant or after pregnancy ends
- Infants, up to 1st birthday
- Children, up to their 5th birthday
You must also:
- Must meet the WIC income guidelines.
- Complete a nutrition assessment with WIC staff.
- Live in Connecticut, though you do not need to be a U.S. citizen.
Recipients of the Special Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Family Assistance (TFA) program, or HUSKY (Medicaid) are automatically income-eligible for WIC.
