What does DPH regulate?

Read time: 6 minutes

DPH regulates to protect and preserve the public health in a wide range of arenas including safe drinking water standards, patient care in healthcare facilities, the licensing of healthcare and environmental health professionals, clinical and environmental laboratories, vital records, emergency medical services, and much more. For more information about DPH's work, please visit our programs and services page.

Where can I find DPH Regulations?

Regulations under DPH jurisdiction, or the State “Public Health Code” can be found mainly in Titles 19, 19a, 20, and 25 of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies.

A full list of DPH regulations is publicly available on the Connecticut eRegulations System administered by the Office of the Secretary of the State. To search all regulations see the Regulations Resources section of this page.

DPH is one of the state agencies with authority in certain statutes to implement interim regulations as “Operational Policies” also known as “Policies and Procedures”. These policies and procedures are implemented during the regulation adoption process and are legally enforceable until the proposed regulation is adopted as final regulation. The final approved regulation replaces the policies and procedures.
