Community, Family, Health and Prevention Branch (CFHP)
The CFHP Branch has two sections:
1) Chronic Diseases & Injury Prevention Section
2) Maternal, Child Health & Access to Care Section
The Chronic Diseases and Injury Prevention Section includes 4 units:
1. Chronic Diseases- Includes several programs, including the Heart, Brain, and Diabetes Health Program, Cancer Program, and more.
- Responsible for disease surveillance. They collect data on things like tobacco use, heart disease, and diabetes.
- Collects data on injuries and risk behaviors like opioid use, community violence, and motor vehicle accidents.
- Programs dedicated to harm prevention, including the Suicide and Self-Directed Violence Prevention Program, Opioids and Drug Overdose Prevention Program, and more.
The Maternal, Child Health & Access to Care Section includes 5 units:
1. Adolescent & Child Health- Responsible for keeping children healthy and safe with programs like School Based Health Centers, Child Sexual Abuse Program, and more.
- Includes the Health Access Programs, Student Loan Repayment Program, Early Hearing Detection and Intervention and Congenital Cytomegalovirus Program, and more.
- Collects data to support maternal and child health. Programs include the Birth Defects Registry, Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System, and more programs for maternal and child health.
- Includes the Personal Responsibility Education Program, Perinatal Care Management & Support, and more programs for perinatal and reproductive support.
- Oversees WIC Nutrition Services, Vendor Management, and other programs that support families through WIC.
