What elementary school outreach programs do you offer to the public?

The Museum of Connecticut History has two outreach programs that we can present in your classroom. Both are suitable for elementary school students. Both bring stories of Connecticut’s history to life with hands-on activities and exploration.

Connecticut Invents!

We help students learn about inventors and inventions — and be inventors themselves! The program is for students in grades 5 through 8. It meets several Connecticut Department of Education standards for history and technology education. The program is 60 minutes long and can be presented up to four times during one school visit. Maximum participation is 25 students per program.

A Connecticut Sampler

This is a fun trip through 300+ years of Connecticut history! We use objects, role-play, and hands-on activities to explore our state’s political, military, and industrial history. Students:

  • Relive the legend of the Charter Oak
  • Get to know inventors and inventions
  • Discover the role of Connecticut soldiers in our nation’s history from the American Revolution to today
  • Enjoy Connecticut’s nicknames, state symbols, and local history

This program is 60 minutes long and can be presented up to four times during one school visit. Maximum participation is 25 students per program.
