Foul Dungeons, Floating Prisons, & Forced Marches

Join the Museum of Connecticut History and learn about Connecticut’s Revolutionary War prisoners on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 12 to 1:00 p.m. 



Connecticut State Library (CSL) employee Susan Bigelow will present “Foul Dungeons, Floating Prisons, and Forced Marches.” She based her lecture on historical research. Her resources include many of the State Library’s artifacts from its impressive collection.

Stories of Connecticut's Black Patriots

Join us at the Museum of Connecticut History for a presentation by historian John Mills. He will share his large body of research on Black residents’ lived experiences during the American Revolution. His lecture also draws from his deep exploration of Connecticut’s own Lathrop family, which resulted in his book, “The Narrative of Primus: A Lineage Woven into American History.”

"Whites of Their Eyes" - Book talk on the life of Israel Putnam

Michael Shay is the author of "The Whites of Their Eyes: The Life of Revolutionary War Hero Israel Putnam from Rogers’ Rangers to Bunker Hill." Mr. Shay talked about General Putnam and what he did for Connecticut and the nation during the American Revolution.
