Year-long exhibit about CT’s role in the American Revolution opens July 4. The Museum of Connecticut History at the Connecticut State Library announces a new exhibit commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary. Connecticut’s Revolution examines how Connecticut residents both affected and were affected by the events of the American Revolution.

The Museum of Connecticut History at the Connecticut State Library invites the public to a presentation about Connecticut women’s participation in the Revolutionary War on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Dr. Katherine Hermes, Publisher of Connecticut Explored, will share “Working for the Revolution: Patriot Women’s Lives During the War,” the results of her extensive research on the topic.

The Museum of Connecticut History, located at the Connecticut State Library, kicks off its sixth year of “Hiking Through History” on Friday, May 15 with a guided tour of Dividend Pond Trails and Archaeological District in Rocky Hill.

The Museum of Connecticut History at the Connecticut State Library invites the public to a special ceremony honoring Sergeant Stubby, the most decorated canine hero in American history, on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Sgt. Stubby served valiantly during World War I alongside his owner, Corporal J. Robert Conroy. The Museum recently commissioned a reproduction of Sgt. Stubby, which will be unveiled at a ceremony with remarks from U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal; Major General Francis Evon, Jr., Adjutant General of the Connecticut National Guard; and Curt Deane, grandson of Corporal Conroy.

The Museum of Connecticut History at the Connecticut State Library invites the public to a presentation about Revolutionary War prisoners in Connecticut on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Connecticut State Library employee Susan Bigelow will share “Foul Dungeons, Floating Prisons, and Forced Marches,” based on historical research she has conducted, including many resources from the State Library’s own extensive collection.

The Museum of Connecticut History at the Connecticut State Library invites the public to a presentation about the remarkable contributions of Connecticut’s Black residents during the American Revolution on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Historian John Mills will share Stories of Connecticut’s Black Patriots, based on extensive genealogical and historical research he has conducted.

The Museum of Connecticut History at the Connecticut State Library invites the public to attend a book talk about Revolutionary War hero Israel Putnam. It will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at noon. Author Michael Shay will speak about General Putnam and his contributions to Connecticut and the nation during the American Revolution.

The Museum of Connecticut History at the Connecticut State Library invites the public to attend a performance honoring Revolutionary War hero Jordan Freeman. It will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at noon. Long-time agency employee Kevin Johnson will bring Freeman’s experiences to life.
