Gov. Malloy: State Receives Emergency Management Accreditation
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that for the first time, the State of Connecticut has received full accreditation from the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP). Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the results of an economic impact study of the tourism industry in Connecticut, showing that the sector of the state's economy generated $14 billion in total sales in 2013 - a three-percent increase from the prior year. The study also shows that tourism supports more than 118,000 jobs statewide - including 80,000 direct jobs - representing 5.3 percent of all employment in the state. Approximately 5,000 new jobs have been created in the industry since the end of the recession.
