If confirmed, Commissioner Schwartz will serve as the new Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs for Policy and Planning, a key administration position.

Gov. Malloy: Grants Help Towns Invest in Quality of Life Improvements
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that 17 small towns throughout Connecticut are being awarded grants under the state’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) to be utilized for certain capital improvement projects, such as road maintenance, public works upgrades, public safety improvements and other municipal service projects.

Gov. Malloy: State Awarded Super Storm Sandy Disaster Relief to Preserve and Restore Historic Properties
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the approval of just over $8 million in new federal disaster relief funding from the National Park Service to provide technical assistance and emergency repairs to historic and archaeological resources in Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties that were damaged by Super Storm Sandy in 2012.

Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has launched a new website – CTrecovers.ct.gov – that will serve as a permanent, one-stop portal for residents, businesses and municipalities to gain information about services available in the aftermath of natural disasters and other emergencies, such as available federal and state grants.

Gov. Malloy: Q-Bridge Project to Increase Capacity and Reduce Congestion on I-95 Between New Haven and Branford is Ahead of Schedule
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman and Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker, today toured the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing (NHHC) Corridor Improvement Program following a major traffic shift, completed over the weekend, of all southbound travel onto the temporary lanes of the new Pearl Harbor Memorial (Q) Bridge. The I-95 southbound traffic shift marks the completion of Stage 2B construction of NHHC and the start of Stage 3 construction - two months ahead of the original schedule.

Gov. Malloy: FSC CT, Inc. Relocated Financial Firm to Greenwich
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced $5 million in loans and grants to FSC CT, Inc. to relocate Fifth Street’s operations to Greenwich. The company, through its Fifth Street affiliates, will bring approximately 50 jobs from its present location in White Plains, New York, and plans to add at least 46 more jobs as it grows over the coming decade.
