Eagan of West Hartford to serve as chairman of the Freedom of Information Commission (FOIC), the state body responsible for administering and enforcing the provisions of the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, which ensures citizen access to the records and meetings of public agencies.

Gov. Malloy Signs Legislation to Improve Connecticut Newborn Health Screening Process
Governor Dannel P. Malloy on Friday joined with a group of legislators and public health advocates for the ceremonial signing of legislation (Public Act 13-242 – "An Act Concerning Newborn Screening For Adrenoleukodystrophy") that requires Connecticut health care institutions to screen newborns in their care for adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a rare, but potentially fatal, genetic disorder that affects the central nervous system and causes a range of neurological, physical, and behavioral symptoms.

Gov. Malloy Announces Launch of Nonprofit Grant Program to Help Providers Enhance Services
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the launch of the state's first-ever Nonprofit Grant Program - a new state bond pool specifically designated for nonprofit community-based organizations that provide health and human services through contracts or agreements with state agencies. The program will help nonprofit providers that do business with the state invest in projects that will achieve new efficiencies so they can enhance the delivery of services.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) Deputy Commissioner Anna M. Barry, and other state, railroad and local officials for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the grand opening of the new West Haven commuter rail station which will primarily serve customers on the New Haven Line, which is operated by Metro-North Railroad under contract to ConnDOT.

Gov. Malloy: Improved State Financial Aid Program Will Ensure Fairer Process and Help Students Better Prepare for College
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that his plan to improve Connecticut's financial aid system is underway and being administered by the Office of Higher Education. The new Governor's Scholarship Program establishes a single, consolidated need-based aid program for residents who are undergraduates at in-state public and private institutions of higher education, and replaces the state's existing student aid programs - Connecticut Aid to Public College Students (CAPCS), Connecticut Independent College Student Grant (CICSG), the Capitol Scholarship, and Connecticut Aid to Charter Oak.
