WEDNESDAY: GOV. MALLOY MAKES ANNOUNCEMENT ON NONPROFIT PROVIDER FUNDING; PROMOTES TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN NORTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will attend a meeting of the Governor's Cabinet on Nonprofit Health and Human Services, where he will make a major announcement regarding nonprofit provider funding.
Following that, Governor Malloy will visit tourist attractions in Northeastern Connecticut - including Thompson, Putnam, Ashford, Mansfield, and Coventry - to showcase some of the popular destinations the state has to offer. In Connecticut, travel and tourism activities generate $11.5 billion annually in economic activity and are responsible for 110,000 jobs. The sector saw a 3.9% employment growth in 2012 and not only has been adding jobs beyond its prerecession level, but has recovered 200% of the jobs lost.
