Gov. Malloy and Attorney General Jepsen Announce Agreements With the Hartford and Liberty Mutual Insurance to Provide Supplemental Assistance to Crumbling Foundation Homeowners
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that the State of Connecticut has entered into two separate memoranda of understanding with The Hartford and Liberty Mutual Insurance to provide supplemental financial assistance to current and former policyholders who file claims and receive awards to remediate their crumbling concrete foundations through the state’s new captive insurance program.

Gov. Malloy Announces $30.8 Million in Grants to Assist Nonprofit Providers With Capital Improvement Projects
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that approximately $30.8 million in state grants are being awarded to 92 nonprofit organizations throughout Connecticut as part of the state’s Nonprofit Grant Program, which assists organizations with the costs associated with one-time infrastructure improvements that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided by the organizations.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy is reminding Connecticut residents that flags should return to full-staff at sunset on the evening of Sunday, December 30, 2018. Flags have been flying at half-staff for a 30-day period of mourning in honor of President George H.W. Bush.

Gov. Malloy Announces Zero-Carbon Resource Selections
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Robert Klee today announced that, under a recently adopted statute requiring the state to conduct an appraisal of nuclear power-generating facilities and solicit bids for zero-carbon electricity-generating resources, the state has selected two nuclear power bids, along with nine solar project bids – two of which are paired with energy storage – and one offshore wind project.

Gov. Malloy: DMV’s New Telephone Center Technology Has Saved Customers an Estimated 10 Million Minutes of Wait Time
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commissioner Michael Bzdyra today announced that customers who call the DMV have saved an estimated 10 million minutes of time waiting on the phone ever since the agency launched new technology in the spring giving customers the option to be called back at a scheduled time of their selection.

Gov. Malloy: State Resurfaced 261 Two-Lane Miles of Roadways in 2018
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker today announced that state resurfaced a total of 261 two-lane miles of roadways in 2018. CTDOT also completed 38 two-lane miles as part of the pavement preservation program, which includes crack-filling, surface patching, drainage repairs, and other rehabilitation work prior to resurfacing to extend the life of existing roadways.

New Report Outlines Eight Years of Policy Under Malloy-Wyman Administration
As Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are nearing the end of their second terms in office and a new gubernatorial team prepares to take over, the outgoing administration released a comprehensive report and accompanying website today summarizing eight years of public policy during their time in office and identifying areas where continued focus and future work is still needed. The 300-page report and website, The Malloy-Wyman Record: A Review Across Five Areas of Policy, documents how the Malloy-Wyman administration grappled with the unique challenges of their time. It presents an overview of major state policy work divided into five areas: economic development, long-term fiscal health, criminal justice reform, equitable communities, and social progress.

Gov. Malloy’s Portrait Unveiled at the Museum of Connecticut History
The official state portrait of Governor Dannel P. Malloy was unveiled during a ceremony today at the Museum of Connecticut History that was attended by the Governor, First Lady Cathy Malloy, Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, family members and friends, administration officials, and former and current staff members. Commissioning a portrait of each outgoing governor as that person is completing his or her duties in office is a longstanding tradition in Connecticut that dates back to the early 1800s.

Gov. Malloy Announces Connecticut Completes Positive Train Control Installation on All Passenger Rail Lines
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that every passenger rail line in Connecticut will have positive train control (PTC) installed on their systems by December 31, 2018, fulfilling a recently enacted requirement by the Federal Railroad Administration for every passenger rail line in the country to implement the safety measure by the end of the year.

Gov. Malloy Announces $3.5 Million in Funding to Remediate and Revitalize 59 Acres of Land in Eight Municipalities
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that $3.6 million in state funding is being awarded to eleven projects in eight Connecticut municipalities to assess, remediate and revitalize blighted properties in their communities – also known as “brownfields” – and put them back into productive use. These projects encompass 59 acres of redevelopment.

Gov. Malloy Announces Opening of DMV Express Center in Southington for License and ID Card Renewals
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commissioner Michael Bzdyra announced that effective today, a new DMV Express Center has opened in Southington, providing customers with a convenient location to renew driver’s licenses and identification cards. Located at 755 Queen Street, the office is operated through a partnership with AAA Allied Group.

Gov. Malloy Releases Climate Change Recommendations, Adds Connecticut to Newly Formed Coalition Addressing Transportation-Related Emissions
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released the final set of recommendations from the Governor’s Council on Climate Change (GC3), which will establish a sustainable path for achieving Connecticut’s long-term vision for decarbonizing our economy in order to address the problem of human-induced climate change. The policy recommendations are focused on three broad objectives: zero-carbon electricity generation; clean transportation; and clean, efficient, and resilient buildings.

Gov. Malloy Announces Open Space Grants That Will Preserve Nearly 1,200 Acres of Land in 14 Towns Across Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that $4.8 million in state grants are being awarded to support the purchase of 1,139 acres of land for 15 projects in 14 Connecticut municipalities that the state will designate to be preserved as open space.

Gov. Malloy: Independent Analysis Shows Recent Adjustments Are Providing a More Stabilized Path for State Employee Pension System
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a pension stress test recently conducted by The Pew Charitable Trust on behalf of the State of Connecticut shows that recent changes made during the Malloy administration to the State Employees Retirement System (SERS) have helped insulate the system from risk even in poor economic conditions. The Governor said that the changes made to SERS can be used to provide a path to help stabilize the Teachers Retirement System (TRS), which was found by the analysis to be in need of action to aid solvency risks and prevent the forthcoming spikes in the state’s share from overcrowding the state’s budget.
