The Federal Government has reopened COVIDtests.gov. Every household can order four over-the-counter COVID-19 tests for free. These tests are intended for use throughout the 2024 holiday season to detect currently circulating COVID-19 variants. Please visit COVIDtests.gov for your free test.

Podcast: Where Does Connecticut's Water Come From? - Interview with Lori Mathieu, Department of Public Health (DPH), Drinking Water Section (DWS) Section Chief

The DPH DWS is celebrating DWW by recognizing drinking water industry personnel that go beyond their routine assignments to contribute to the health and safety of Connecticut’s public drinking water. At an annual event hosted by the Connecticut Water Works Association, the DPH will award our fifth annual “CT DPH Educational Public Health Drinking Water Merit Award.” This year’s award will be given to Mr. Bruce Morton, Program Director and Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at Goodwin College, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the drinking water field in the area of education.

The DPH DWS will also present our fifth annual “CT DPH Certified Operator Public Health Drinking Water Merit Award”. The DPH presents this award to a certified public water system operator who exemplifies exceptional work practices on the job and contributions to the field of drinking water in the area of water operations. This year’s recipient is Mr. Victor N. Nigro, Jr., Vice President of Operations at Aqua Pump Co., Inc. and Chief Operator for at least 57 public water systems in state.

Lastly, the DPH DWS will present the “CT DPH Small Community Public Health Drinking Water Merit Award” to recognize two small community public water system that have made outstanding contributions to the field of drinking water, in the area of water operations and administration. The Chadwick Homeowners Association, Inc. and the Tariffville Fire District Water Department are the third annual recipients of this award.
