Milling and Resurfacing on Route 9 southbound in Chester and Haddam

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 9 southbound in Chester and Haddam.

The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 7.46-mile segment of Route 9 southbound in Chester and   Haddam (including Exits 8 and 9 on/off-ramps). The milling segment for this project is scheduled for Monday evening, May 8, 2023, through Monday morning, June 12, 2023.  The resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to be performed on Tuesday evening, June 13, 2023, through Saturday morning, July 15, 2023.  Work will end at 6:00 a.m. on Friday morning, May 26, 2023, and will resume at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, May 30, 2023, due to the Memorial Day holiday.  Work will also end at 6:00 a.m. on Friday morning, June 30, 2023, and will resume at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, July 5, 2023, due to the July 4 Independence Day holiday. 

This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2023 Vendor Resurfacing Program.

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

Motorists can expect lane closures to occur on Route 9 southbound from the Turkey Hill Road end overpass in Chester to the Haddam/Middletown Town Line.  One (1) state trooper, crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.  The nighttime work schedule for this project is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Sunday p.m. – Saturday a.m.).

 

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
