The Department of Transportation's (Department) Office of Engineering is developing plans for the replacement of the fuel oil underground storage tank with an aboveground storage tank on the site of the Department’s headquarters at 2800 Berlin Turnpike in Newington.
The purpose of this project is to upgrade the storage tanks to comply with the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s regulations. It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share their concerns with the Department to assist in the project's development. If there is adequate interest, an informational meeting will be conducted. At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing will be necessary.
The present schedule indicates that final design plans will be available in October 2020. The project will be state funded.
