Construction of a new New Milford Maintenance Facility

The Department of Transportation’s (Department) Office of Engineering is developing plans for the construction of a new maintenance facility on Kent Road in New Milford to replace a functionally obsolete maintenance facility.

The project involves the construction of a new building consisting of approximately a 12,500 square foot bay area and a 5,050 square foot office area which will include operational areas for vehicles, material storage, private and supporting office spaces. The existing facility will be demolished. Corresponding site improvements will include a retaining wall, site drainage improvements, connections to utilities and new pavement.

The present schedule indicates that design plans will be finalized in September 2020. The project will be state funded.

It is the Department’s policy to keep the public informed when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share their concerns with the Department to assist in the project’s development. If there is adequate interest, an informational meeting will be conducted. At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing will be necessary.

Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. Michael J. Strong, Project Manager, at (860) 594-3306 or by e-mail at michael.strong@ct.gov. Please make reference to the New Milford Maintenance Facility.
