Labor Department Partners in CT Saves Week; Workshops Offered at American Job Centers
Focus on Attaining Financial Goals; Saving Money

This release was issued by the Connecticut Department of Labor.

In recognition of Connecticut Saves Week, workshops at the Labor Department’s Hamden and Hartford American Job Centers will be held February 28 and March 6. Topics will include: Why is it important to save money? How can I reach my financial goals, and what can I do to avoid fraud and protect my money?

Attendees will also learn about their specific “money personality” and relationship with money, as well as techniques that can help save money and overcome barriers to reaching personal goals. Important tips on how to avoid identity theft and common banking scams, and minimizing risks of becoming a victim also will be discussed by workshop presenters Kathleen Titsworth, Banking Education Coordinator with the Connecticut Department of Banking and Faye Griffiths-Smith, Family Finance Educator with UConn Extension.

The Hamden workshop will be held 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. February 28 at the American Job Center, 37 Marne Street. The workshop is free, but pre-registration is required and can be made by calling (203) 859-3200. Additional information can be found online.

The Hartford workshop will be held 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 7 at the American Job Center, 3580 Main Street. The workshop is free, but pre-registration is required and can be made by calling (860) 256-3673. Additional information can be found online.
