The Connecticut Department of Banking (DOB) regulates the financial service industry in Connecticut.  In terms of financial institutions, it is important to note that some are federally regulated, which means the DOB does not have jurisdiction over those institutions.

Office of the Comptroller of the Currency

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) oversees all national banks and federal savings associations and supervises the federal branches and agencies of foreign banks.

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

In addition to the OCC, banks with total assets over $10 billion dollars are also regulated by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

National Credit Union Administration

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is a Federal government agency responsible for chartering, supervising, examining and insuring federal credit unions.
