BANK ACTIVITY 

Special Meeting

On August 1, 2023, pursuant to Sections 1-225 and 36a-70(i) of the Connecticut General Statutes, a special meeting of the Banking Commissioner will be held for the purpose of considering the application of the organizers of TNB USA Inc., Norwalk, Connecticut, for an extension of their Temporary Certificate of Authority to organize an uninsured bank. The meeting is scheduled to be held on August 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. via videoconference and via teleconference at (860) 840-2075, conference ID: 810 704 711#.  

CONSUMER CREDIT DIVISION ACTIVITY

Order to Cease and Desist and Order Imposing Civil Penalty

On July 6, 2023, the Commissioner issued an Order to Cease and Desist and Order Imposing Civil Penalty (“Order”) in the Matter of: REI Holdings, LLC d/b/a NEFF Companies, LLC d/b/a REI Holdings, NMLS # 1897917 (“REI”), Lehi, Utah. The basis of the Order was that REI’s acting within this state as a consumer collection agency without a consumer collection agency license constitutes violations of Section 36a 801(a) of the Connecticut General Statutes in effect at such time. The Commissioner ordered REI to cease and desist from violating Section 36a-801(a) of the Connecticut General Statutes and imposed a civil penalty in the amount of $100,000 upon REI. In addition, the Order to Make Restitution issued against REI on April 18, 2023, remains in effect and became permanent on May 10, 2023.
