Branch Activity

Section 36a-145 of the Connecticut General Statutes requires that each application for a branch, or for a limited branch at which loans will be made, be accompanied by a plan detailing how adequate services to meet the banking needs of all community residents will be provided. Plans are submitted when such applications are filed and are available for public inspection and comment at this Department for a period of 30 days. CHECK CASHING SERVICE LICENSE ACTIVITY

Pursuant to Section 36a-581 of the Connecticut General Statutes, on February 28, 2001, Connecticut State Check Cashing Services, Inc. received approval to operate a check cashing service general facility at 153 Boston Post Road, Orange, Connecticut.

MONEY ORDER AND TRAVELERS CHECK LICENSE ACTIVITY

Pursuant to Section 36a-600 of the Connecticut General Statutes, on March 2, 2001, Envios R.D. Corp. d/b/a Pronto Envios filed an application to engage in the business of receiving money for transmitting the same.

NEW BANK ACTIVITY

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 36a-70 of the Connecticut General Statutes, on February 23, 2001, a Final Certificate of Authority was issued to The Community's Bank, Bridgeport. The bank opened for business on February 26, 2001.

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 36a-70 of the Connecticut General Statutes, on March 2, 2001, a Final Certificate of Authority was issued to The Apple Valley Bank & Trust Company, Cheshire. The bank opened for business on March 2, 2001.

ACQUISITION

On February 26, 2001, pursuant to Section 36a-185 of the Connecticut General Statutes, the Banking Commissioner issued a notice of intent not to disapprove the acquisition by Angelo DeCaro to increase his beneficial ownership from 24.9 percent to 25 percent or more of the common stock of Patriot National Bancorp, Inc., a holding company, and indirectly, Patriot National Bank.

SECURITIES AND BUSINESS INVESTMENTS DIVISION ACTIVITY
Stop Order Denying Effectiveness of
Business Opportunity Registration Issued

On February 27, 2001, the Banking Commissioner entered a Stop Order denying effectiveness to the pending business opportunity registration of Communications Marketing Associates, Inc. The corporation maintains its principal office at One Park Place, 621 N.W. 53rd Street, Suite 355, Boca Raton, Florida and sells payphone equipment packages to the public. The Stop Order, which was uncontested by the corporation, found that Communications Marketing Associates, Inc. filed a materially incomplete application for business opportunity registration with the department.
