Branch Activity

Section 36a-145 of the Connecticut General Statutes requires that each application for a branch, or for a limited branch at which loans will be made, be accompanied by a plan detailing how adequate services to meet the banking needs of all community residents will be provided. Plans are submitted when such applications are filed and are available for public inspection and comment at this Department for a period of 30 days. SECTION 36a-425 APPLICATIONS

On October 17, 2000, applications were filed by The MONY Group Inc., a Delaware corporation, to maintain 11 offices of Advest, Inc., a subsidiary of Advest Group, Inc., after the consummation of the merger between MONY Acquisition Corp., a Delaware corporation which is a subsidiary of The MONY Group Inc., and Advest Group, Inc. Advest, Inc., a Delaware corporation, will continue to operate at the following locations: 17 West Main Street, Avon; 200 Glastonbury Boulevard, Suite 302, Glastonbury; 2 Greenwich Office Park, 2nd Floor, Greenwich; 76 Batterson Park Road, 1st Floor, Pond View Corporate Center, Farmington; 90 State House Square, Hartford; Middlesex Corp. Center, 213 Court Street, Suite 605, Middletown; 38 East Main Street, Mystic; Mariner Square - Eugene O'Neill Drive, 1st Floor, New London; 28 Mashomoquet Rd., Pomfret Center; 29 South Main Street, Suite 221, West Hartford; and 33 Riverside Drive, Suite 5, Westport, Connecticut.

On October 20, 2000, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc, incorporated under the laws of Great Britain and registered in Scotland, filed an application to establish an office of its subsidiary, Citizens Mortgage Corporation, a Rhode Island corporation, at 141 Main Street, Deep River, Connecticut.

ACQUISITIONS

In connection with the applications filed by Northwest Community Bank, a mutual savings bank, and Litchfield Bancorp, a mutual savings bank, on August 24, 2000, for approvals for each to reorganize into a mutual holding company, causing separate reorganized savings institutions to be incorporated and organized as capital stock Connecticut banks, and for the subsequent merger of the two mutual holding companies, forming a single holding company to be renamed Connecticut Mutual Holding Company, with two wholly-owned stock savings bank subsidiaries; on October 17, 2000, joint Acquisition Statements were filed with the Commissioner, pursuant to Section 36a-184 of the Connecticut General Statutes, on behalf of Connecticut Mutual Holding Company to acquire the reorganized capital stock Connecticut banks. In connection with the Acquisition Statements, a separate community reinvestment plan was filed for each of the reorganized capital stock Connecticut banks, which are available for public inspection and comment at the Department of Banking for a period of 30 days. On October 20, 2000, Connecticut Mutual Holding Company withdrew the Acquisition Statement for NWC Stock Bank.
