Written comments will be considered only if they are received within ten days from the date of this bulletin.

Branch Activity

Section 36a-145 of the Connecticut General Statutes requires that each application for a branch, or for a limited branch at which loans will be made, be accompanied by a plan detailing how adequate services to meet the banking needs of all community residents will be provided. Plans are submitted when such applications are filed and are available for public inspection and comment at this Department for a period of 30 days. CHECK CASHING SERVICE LICENSE ACTIVITY

Pursuant to Section 36a-581 of the Connecticut General Statutes, on August 21, 2000, James Robert Toth filed an application to operate a check cashing service general facility at 549 Howe Avenue, Shelton, Connecticut.

Pursuant to Section 36a-581(d) of the Connecticut General Statutes, on August 25, 2000, City Check Cashing Inc. filed an application to relocate its licensed check cashing service general facility from 1177 Main Street, East Hartford, Connecticut, to 1247 Main Street, East Hartford, Connecticut.

REORGANIZATION INTO A MUTUAL HOLDING COMPANY

On August 24, 2000, Northwest Community Bank, a mutual savings bank, and Litchfield Bancorp, a mutual savings bank, filed separate applications, pursuant to Sections 36a-192 and 36a-194(b) of the Connecticut General Statutes, for approvals for each to reorganize into a mutual holding company, causing separate reorganized savings institutions to be incorporated and organized as capital stock Connecticut banks, and for the subsequent merger of the two mutual holding companies, forming a single holding company to be renamed Connecticut Mutual Holding Company, with two wholly-owned stock savings bank subsidiaries.

NEW BANK ACTIVITY

Pursuant to Section 36a-70 of the Connecticut General Statutes, on August 29, 2000, a temporary certificate of authority was issued to the organizers of THE COMMUNITY'S BANK for the purpose of conducting the business of a state bank and trust company in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
