Branch Activity
Section 36a-145 of the Connecticut General Statutes requires that each application for a branch, or for a limited branch at which loans will be made, be accompanied by a plan detailing how adequate services to meet the banking needs of all community residents will be provided. Plans are submitted when such applications are filed and are available for public inspection and comment at this Department for a period of 30 days. FIDUCIARY POWERS
On March 8, 1999, pursuant to Section 36a-70(n) of the Connecticut General Statutes, Essex Savings Bank applied for permission to exercise fiduciary powers.
NEW BANK ACTIVITY
Pursuant to Section 36a-70(i) of the Connecticut General Statutes, on March 9, 1999, the Banking Commissioner extended for 30 days the period for which the temporary certificate of authority of Castle Bank and Trust Company, Meriden (In Organization) is valid. The bank's certificate of authority will expire on April 19, 1999.
NAME CHANGE
Pursuant to Section 36a-82 of the Connecticut General Statutes, on March 12, 1999, the Banking Commissioner approved the name change of NSS Bank to Summit Bank.
SECTION 36a-425 APPLICATIONS
On March 9, 1999, applications were filed by Citigroup Inc., a Delaware corporation, to establish offices of its subsidiaries, Commercial Credit Corporation, a Maryland corporation, and Commercial Credit Loans, Inc., a Delaware corporation, at 34 Shunpike Road, Cromwell, and 326 West Main Street, Milford, Connecticut.
SECTION 36a-425 APPROVAL
On March 12, 1999, approval was granted to Citigroup Inc., a Delaware corporation, to establish an office of its subsidiaries, Commercial Credit Corporation, a Maryland corporation, and Commercial Credit Loans, Inc., a Delaware corporation, at 1131 Tolland Turnpike, The Plaza at Burr Corners, Manchester, Connecticut.
ACQUISITION
On March 12, 1999, the Banking Commissioner granted approval, pursuant to Section 36a-412(a)(1) of the Connecticut General Statutes, to Hudson United Bank to acquire a branch of First International Bank (formerly First National Bank of New England).
