Branch Activity

Section 36a-145 of the Connecticut General Statutes requires that each application for a branch, or for a limited branch at which loans will be made, be accompanied by a plan detailing how adequate services to meet the banking needs of all community residents will be provided. Plans are submitted when such applications are filed and are available for public inspection and comment at this Department for a period of 30 days. SALE OF A BRANCH

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 36a-145(h) of the Connecticut General Statutes, on February 8, 1999, New Haven Savings Bank requested approval to sell its branch located at 635 South Main Street, Middletown, Connecticut, to Liberty Bank, Middletown.

NAME CHANGE

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 36a-82 of the Connecticut General Statutes, on December 18, 1998, NSS Bank, Norwalk, filed an application for permission to change its name to Summit Bank. Written objections to the application may be made, for a period of 30 days from the date of publication of this bulletin, on the grounds that the name selected will tend to confuse the public.

ACQUISITIONS AND MERGERS

On February 8, 1999, Deutsche Bank AG, an Aktiengesellschaft (corporation) organized and existing under the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, filed an application pursuant to Sections 36a-184 and 36a-412 of the Connecticut General Statutes for the acquisition through merger of Bankers Trust Corporation, a New York corporation, and, indirectly, of all of the voting stock of Bankers Trust Company Connecticut Ltd., a Connecticut bank organized solely to function in a fiduciary capacity.

On February 10, 1999, pursuant to Section 36a-184 of the Connecticut General Statutes, Webster Financial Corporation, a Delaware corporation, filed an application for the acquisition of Village Bancorp, Inc., a Connecticut Corporation, and indirectly, The Village Bank & Trust Company, a Connecticut bank
