This bulletin constitutes the only official notification you will receive from this office concerning any of the following applications. Any observations you may have are solicited. Any comments should be in writing to John P. Burke, Banking Commissioner, at the Connecticut Department of Banking, 260 Constitution Plaza, Hartford, CT 06103-1800 or via E-mail to john.burke@ct.gov. Written comments will be considered only if they are received within ten days from the date of this bulletin.

Branch Activity

Section 36a-145 of the Connecticut General Statutes requires that each application for a branch, or for a limited branch at which loans will be made, be accompanied by a plan detailing how adequate services to meet the banking needs of all community residents will be provided. Plans are submitted when such applications are filed and are available for public inspection and comment at this Department for a period of 30 days. NEW BANK ACTIVITY

Pursuant to Section 36a-70 of the Connecticut General Statutes, as amended by Public Act 97-209, on September 3, 1998, a temporary certificate of authority was issued to the organizers of Valley Bank, Bristol, for the establishment of a Connecticut bank and trust company.

SECTION 36a-425 APPROVAL

On August 31, 1998, approval was granted to Republic Bancorp, Inc., a Michigan corporation, to establish an office of its subsidiary, Market Street Mortgage Corporation, a Michigan corporation, at 175 Capital Boulevard, Suite 103, Rocky Hill, Connecticut.

SECTION 36a-425 APPLICATIONS

On September 2, 1998, applications were filed by NationsBank Corporation, a North Carolina corporation, to maintain two offices of its subsidiary, EquiCredit Corporation of CT, a Connecticut corporation, at 74 Batterson Park Road, Farmington, and 99 Hawley Lane, Suite 1007, Stratford, Connecticut, upon consummation of the merger of NationsBank Corporation with and into NationsBank (DE) Corporation, a Delaware corporation, the resulting holding company to be known as NationsBank (DE) Corporation. Subsequently, BankAmerica Corporation will merge with and into NationsBank (DE) Corporation which will change its name to BankAmerica Corporation upon consummation of the merger.

On September 3, 1998, an application was filed by First Eastern Bankshares Corporation, a Massachusetts corporation, to establish an office of its subsidiary, First Eastern Mortgage Corporation, a Massachusetts corporation, at 112 Spencer Street, Manchester, Connecticut.
