Branch Activity

Section 36a-145 of the Connecticut General Statutes requires that each application for a branch, or for a limited branch at which money will be lent, be accompanied by a plan detailing how adequate services to meet the banking needs of all community residents will be provided. Plans are submitted when such applications are filed and are available for public inspection and comment at this Department for a period of 30 days. ACQUISITION

On January 21, 1998, William R. Berkley, in connection with an acquisition statement filed on December 8, 1997, pursuant to Section 36a-184 of the Connecticut General Statutes, filed a community reinvestment plan which is available for public inspection and comment.

SECTION 36a-425 APPROVAL

On January 22, 1998, approval was granted to Old Kent Financial Corporation, a Michigan corporation, to establish an office of its subsidiary, Old Kent Mortgage Company, a Michigan corporation, at 195 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, Connecticut.

MONEY ORDER AND TRAVELERS CHECK LICENSEE ACTIVITY

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 36a-600 of the Connecticut General Statutes, on January 23, 1998, Trans-Fast Remittance, Inc., filed an application to engage in the business of receiving money for transmitting the same.

The submission by The Pay-O-Matic Corp. shown on Bulletin #1769 for the week ending January 16, 1998 should not have been listed. The submission did not constitute a formal application.
