Branch Activity

Section 36a-145 of the Connecticut General Statutes requires that each application for a branch, or for a limited branch at which money will be lent, be accompanied by a plan detailing how adequate services to meet the banking needs of all community residents will be provided. Plans are submitted when such applications are filed and are available for public inspection and comment at this Department for a period of 30 days. NAME CHANGE

On January 8, 1998, pursuant to Section 36a-82 of the Connecticut General Statutes, The New Milford Bank & Trust Company filed an application to change its name to NMBT. Written objection to the application may be made for a period of 30 days from the date of publication of this Bulletin on the grounds that the name selected will tend to confuse the public.

SECTION 36a-425 APPROVALS

On January 8, 1998, approval was granted to NationsBank Corporation, a North Carolina corporation, to maintain offices of its proposed subsidiary, EquiCredit Corporation of CT, a Connecticut corporation, which will be acquired as the result of the merger of Barnett Banks, Inc. into NB Holdings Corporation, at 74 Batterson Park Road, Farmington, and 99 Hawley Lane, Suite 1470, Stratford, Connecticut.

On January 9, 1998, approval was granted to People’s Bancshares, Inc., a Massachusetts corporation, to establish offices of its subsidiary, People’s Mortgage Corporation, a Massachusetts corporation, at 11 South Main Street, Suite 4, Marlborough, and 125 Shaw Street, Suite 4, New London, Connecticut.
