Branch Activity

Section 36a-145 of the Connecticut General Statutes requires that each application for a branch, or for a limited branch at which money will be lent, be accompanied by a plan detailing how adequate services to meet the banking needs of all community residents will be provided. Plans are submitted when such applications are filed and are available for public inspection and comment at this Department for a period of 30 days. Branch Sale
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 36a-145(h) of the Connecticut General Statutes, on December 29, 1997, approval was granted to Chelsea Groton Savings Bank to sell its Canterbury branch, 180 Canterbury Road, Unit 1, Canterbury, CT to the Savings Institute.

CHECK CASHING LOCATION ACTIVITY

Pursuant to Section 36a-581 of the Connecticut General Statutes, on January 2, 1998, National Currency Exchange, Inc., d/b/a Cash-a-Check, was granted approval to operate a check cashing service general facility at 1219 East Main Street, Bridgeport, Connecticut 06608.

SECTION 36a-425 APPLICATIONS

On December 29, 1997, an application was filed by Old Kent Financial Corporation, a Michigan corporation, to establish an office of its subsidiary, Old Kent Mortgage Company, a Michigan corporation, at 195 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, Connecticut.
