What is the EMPOWER Grant?
The EMPOWER Grant program supports small and medium-sized arts organizations located in under-resourced communities that represent the beautiful and diverse cultural expressions of all residents. The program is designed to invest in multi-year support (a total of 3 years) and to engage in a cross-pollinating cohort structure that builds community among diverse organizations.
The EMPOWER Grant program aims to support organizations in refining their mission, vision and scope in order to scale sustainability through coaching sessions and workshops to help them reach their self-determined growth goals using a "seed the fruit" framework developed by the COA team.
A pilot cohort was selected in 2022 after a series of community-based information sessions. The cohort was chosen based on their organizational size, budget, and geographic location within the state. The selection process also involved recommendations from COA's Designated Regional Service Organizations and assistance from our Grants Equity Intern.
In FY2025, COA will initiate the next cohort selection process.
