Pharmacists may dispense a controlled substance medication pursuant to an out-of-state written or electronic prescription provided they meet all of the requirements, state and federal, for issuing a prescription. It is the pharmacist's responsibility to determine the validity of a prescription prior to dispensing it using their professional judgment.
