There is no such thing as “referral status” with regards to state licensing.
The only real estate license status types are:
- Active
- Inactive
- Retired
Only a license in “Active” status may perform any real estate work, including referrals. All “Active” licenses are subject to all licensing requirements.
Sometimes a brokerage may group all of their salespeople that they would like to restrict to referrals into a separate brokerage.
