Before a provisional appraiser (RSP) can apply to become a certified appraiser, they must complete training that includes a work log, signed off by a sponsoring appraiser.
In order to help the RSP find a sponsor in their desired category (RCR = Residential Appraiser; RCG = General Appraiser), Consumer Protection (DCP) shares a list of appraisers (below) who have informed us that they are willing to serve as a sponsor and have their contact information included. To qualify to be a sponsor, an appraiser must: be currently licensed; have held an active appraiser license in good standing for at least 3 years; and be approved by DCP. Please note: While RSPs can have multiple supervising appraisers, appraisers can only sponsor up to 3 RSPs at any given time.
To join this initiative, please sign in to your account in elicense, and select “License Maintenance”. After clicking “Start” next to your license, follow the prompts in the system. DCP will review your request and you will receive an email with the determination.
Once you have agreed to serve as a sponsor for a particular RSP, DCP must be notified of the arrangement with the Sponsor Notification Form completed; the RSP must include this form in their application. The form must also be completed when the sponsorship has ended.
