Cottage Food in Connecticut

A Cottage Food Operator (CFO) makes a food product at home with the intent to sell directly to consumers.

There are state and federal regulations that limit what an individual can sell. Products must be low-risk for food-related injury or illness and can be prepared in a home kitchen. NOTE: Some products may not meet FDA requirements for inter-state commerce, and therefore cannot be shipped. The transaction must occur in Connecticut.

Below you will find allowable food items, updated safety regulations, and required sales practices.
