Why should I report workers’ compensation fraud?
Nationwide, workers’ compensation fraud results in billions of dollars stolen annually.[1] Due to limited funding available each year for workers’ compensation benefits, fraudulent activity limits the availability of these benefits for those workers who legitimately need the assistance. Additionally, businesses that fail to carry workers’ compensation insurance or misclassify employees may be engaged in unfair business practices and place Connecticut workers at risk. Moreover, the citizens of our state inevitably make up for those losses both in higher taxes and insurance premiums.
