Insurance Department Applauds Kathy Belfi for Receiving
The Connecticut Society of CPA’s Distinguished Service Award

Connecticut Insurance Department (CID) Commissioner Andrew N. Mais applauded Kathy Belfi, CPA and CID Director of Financial Regulation, for receiving the 2022 CTCPA Women Distinguished Service Award from the Connecticut Society of CPAs for her excellence in leadership and management in the accounting profession.

“Kathy has been integral not just to CID’s success, but to state insurance regulation in general, selflessly sharing her time and talent to help address some of the thorniest issues facing us as regulators,” said Commissioner Mais. “This award is well deserved for her many contributions over the years.”

Commissioner Mais serves as Vice President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and commended Belfi for having served on 20 NAIC working groups, several of which she chaired. In 2013, she was nationally recognized as a co-recipient of the NAIC’s Robert Dineen Award for outstanding contributions to state insurance regulation and advancement of the insurance regulatory profession. Five years later, she was honored by the AICPA with the National State Government Impact Award for her leadership role in creating efficiency, effectiveness, and innovative service delivery.

Belfi of Bristol Connecticut, leads the Financial Regulation Division and is responsible for the financial solvency oversight of some of the most complex Property and Casualty, Life and Health insurers in the world.

Belfi was nominated by Misal Panchal, CPA, and Insurance Certified Financial Examiner at the Connecticut Insurance Department.
