• Attorney General Jepsen Partners with FTC to Promote Military Consumer Protection Day

  Our nation’s military families face unique challenges, such as frequent deployments and relocations, that make them particularly vulnerable to scam artists. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) reported over 62,000 consumer complaints from veterans, military families and service men and women in 2012 alone. To assist America’s military families and veterans avoid scams, Attorney General George Jepsen is joining with the FTC, consumer protection organizations and other private sector groups in the second annual Military Consumer Protection Day on Wednesday, July 16.

• Connecticut Joins $181 Million Settlement With Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William Rubenstein announced today that Connecticut has joined a $181 million dollar settlement agreement with Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson.

• Connecticut Electric Ratepayers to Receive $5 Million Benefit through Federal Settlement with Constellation Energy

  Connecticut electric ratepayers will benefit from $5 million through a settlement between the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Constellation Energy Commodities Group, Inc., Attorney General George Jepsen, Consumer Counsel Elin Swanson Katz and Public Utilities Regulatory Authority Chairman Arthur House announced today.

• AG Jepsen: Conn. Joins Antitrust Lawsuit over Allegations that Drug Company Illegally Blocked Generic Opioid Treatment from Market

  Connecticut, 34 other states and the District of Columbia filed a federal lawsuit yesterday afternoon against the makers of Suboxone, a prescription drug used to treat opioid addiction, alleging that the companies engaged in an illegal scheme to block generic competitors from entering the market and cause purchasers to pay artificially high prices, Attorney General George Jepsen said.

  The Connecticut-led effort to rein in and establish oversight procedures for the budget of the organization that operates New England’s electric grid has taken an important step forward with parties to the matter reaching a settlement agreement.

• AG Jepsen, DCP: Conn. Joins $13.5 Million Multistate Settlement with Boehringer Ingelheim

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull today announced that Connecticut is joining with 49 other states and the District of Columbia in a $13.5 million settlement with Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to resolve allegations that it engaged in off-label marketing and made deceptive and misleading representations in its promotion of four prescription drugs.

  Attorney General George Jepsen and Consumer Counsel Elin Swanson Katz today welcomed an interim decision from the state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority ordering electric supplier Palmco Power CT, LLC to issue notices to all of its existing customers advising them how to immediately switch to the standard offer provided by either Eversource Energy or The United Illuminating Company.

• AG Jepsen: Connecticut Joins $470 Million Joint State-Federal Settlement with HSBC to Address Mortgage Servicing and Foreclosure Abuses

  Attorney General George Jepsen announced today that Connecticut has joined a $470 million joint state-federal settlement with mortgage lender and servicer HSBC to address mortgage origination, servicing, and foreclosure abuses. Connecticut joins 48 other states, the District of Columbia, U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) in today’s settlement.

  Consumers in Connecticut will begin receiving account credits or checks on Tuesday, June 21, through the settlement of the eBook price-fixing lawsuit against Apple, Inc. brought by Attorney General George Jepsen and 32 other states in 2012.
