• Attorney General Continues Work On Banking Issues Responsible For Financial Crisis

  Attorney General George Jepsen joined other Attorneys General this week to continue work on their investigation into issues that contributed to the nation’s financial crisis and were not resolved by the historic $25 billion mortgage foreclosure settlement with the nation’s largest banks.

• Attorney General, Consumer Protection Commissioner: Abnormal Market Disruption on Energy Products through Nov. 10

  Due to Hurricane Sandy’s continuing potential to affect fuel distribution and sale in Connecticut, Attorney General George Jepsen announced that he will issue a notice of abnormal market disruption that will commence when the existing abnormal market period ends on Nov. 3. Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein today encouraged consumers to help minimize stress on the markets by conserving gasoline where possible.

(Penguin) and Simon & Schuster engaged in an anticompetitive price-fixing scheme for marketing electronic books.

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Social Services Commissioner Roderick Bremby are cautioning consumers about a postal scam involving fraudulent sweepstakes award notifications accompanied by a bogus government check bearing the State of Connecticut seal and purporting to be from the Department of Social Services.
